Normally before any colon procedure the patient must drink a salt water solution which gives them the runs and cleans out their colon. Often the patient has mucus and many nasty smelly things come out of them while drinking the solution. That would be why the colon is clean when they operate. Anyone who works in this field should know this. And yes juice fasting does clean you out.

Juicing is good for weight loss, yes. It's low calorie and contains nutrients. But this concept that it rids the colon of old compacted and rotten material is crazy. If the colon contained such rotten material, colon surgeons would see this when they slice open the colon during sugery. And they don't see it. I work with colon surgeons and see those colons. After a good enema and laxative, colons are clean. This idea is hype. The inside of a colon is not a mystery--surgeons see it every day. I wish people would stop making statements that they have no real experince with. What you see in the toilet stool. Just healthy stool made from a lots of vegetable fiber. Stop the hype.

Not sure how drinking coffee or juicing veggies has anything to do with religion. Your claim that Christian's are coffee addicts is almost as unbelievable as saying buddhist are sugar addicts and pegans are alcholics. I think people can grasp the negative effects of coffee without all the cultural bashing.

You are absolutely incorrect with regards to coca-cola having cocaine and then changing to caffeine when cocaine was supposedly outlawed. The use of cocaine would have been against the law in any drink at the time. Furthermore it is a well documented fact that coca-cola only had trace elements of cocaine when scrutinized under a microscope causing the owner of the company (they were not yet a public company) to pull the coca leaf extract (a flavoring) from the drink. Caffeine has always occurred naturaly in the drink from the very beginning. Asa Chandler (the owner), who was a chemist, and others published a study in the new england journal of medicine about the fact that coca leaf extract was causing these trace elements to show up under microscope. The study was peer reviewed extensively and also done by independent chemists. Chandler, who bought the company from the drink's inventer John Pemberton (also a chemist) made a public point of pulling the coca leaf extract and letting the public and industry insiders know why he was doing it in order to avoid unwarranted controversy. Unfortunately the novelty of falsely telling people that 'coke' used to have cocaine in it is just too much for the ignorant masses to resist. Inasmuch as I understand why most people just assume that this is true, even 'journalists' who should know better, your assertion that the company took out the cocaine and infused the drink with caffeine because it was no longer able to hook people with cocaine and now wanted to hook people with caffeine is just stupid. It is a silly attempt to equate caffeine with cocaine to make an invalid point. It is unscientific and shameful. Do your research.

Hi, I wonder what is "better"....drinking green smoothies with vegetables and fruit or drinking only juice with vegetables and fruit? I have been drinking the green smoothies but don't know if my body would heal better with only the juice?

Thanks for the info, someone finally answered my question.

You see, everyone keeps saying 'drink as much as you want.'

But I just started my 'fast' today, and I've already consumed 1500 calories in fruit and vegetables and its only lunch. This is about 1000 more calories than I have by lunchtime (I tend to eat my calories in the evening).

So I mean, I'm on my way to 3000 calories - which would represent a massive weight gain.
I got to thinking - everyone saying 'eat as much as you wan't, must mean you won't want that much.

Unless calories don't mean anything - eating more calories than you are burning means you are going to gain weight.

So my juice diet was about to spark a massive weight gain - until I read your article where you say - if you aren't losing weight, then cut back on the juice.

Yeah - cutting calories = losing weight. I should've known that, the juice diet doesn't change the basics.

Oh well, it was a nice thought anyway.

I find that adding spices like cinnamon and nutmeg taste great in the fruit juice, and for veggie juice I just add a dash of my favorites like red ceyenne, pepper, basil, garlic, and I juice an onion with it. Spice it up!

Raw juices contain natural medicines, vegetal hormones, antibiotics and low in calories. As juices require minimal digestion, your digestive system gets a physiological rest, allowing the colon to the compacted material old and rotten waiting there to cause disease in the future.

I have personally experienced a significant improvement in my indigestion problem from the juice fast for 6 days, enjoying the relief of swelling, not to mention the constant weight loss and detoxification benefits. The fast you will benefit from almost all kinds of problems with the digestive system.
